The Advent Leadership Academy is an ambitious collaboration between Advent International and Harvard Business School. The Academy provides the next generation of portfolio-company leaders with the chance to participate in a tailored program designed and taught by the world’s most prestigious business school.
DEVELOPING TOMORROW’S LEADERS
The program will equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and relationships necessary to excel in future leadership roles at their companies. Attendees will benefit from insights into their personality and leadership style, which will help position them for future success.
Building on existing work to improve the level of diversity across our portfolio, the inaugural program will be open to high-performing women, people of color, and those who identify as LGBTQ+. This will help create a more diverse pipeline of future leaders for our businesses. From 2022 onward we will broaden the criteria for entry to allow more exceptional portfolio-company talent to benefit from this unique opportunity.
The key objective of the program is to provide high-potential leaders at our portfolio companies with the knowledge and skills to accelerate their professional development and create a pipeline of executives who will be prepared for future CXO-level roles.
One of the great strengths of the Advent approach has been the continual exchange of ideas across our global community. The program will further stimulate this collaboration by encouraging alumni to share insights and best practices gained in one sector or geography with fellow leaders elsewhere in the Advent portfolio.
The shared experience will also help create a community of peers that leaders can leverage throughout their careers.
- Course overview
Attendees will benefit from an intensive, three-month program with HBS Executive Education focusing on topics such as leadership, talent management, strategy, innovation, culture, brand, and digital transformation. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with thought leaders from Harvard and external luminaries on evolving business issues.
The course will be tailored by HBS to meet the specific needs and experiences of the class of 2021. Working in small groups through real-life challenges, participants will learn to think more strategically, hone their judgment, and develop leadership acumen.

- Looking forward
While chosen candidates for the inaugural year will be drawn from diverse backgrounds, from 2022 onward we will broaden the criteria for entry into the Advent Leadership Academy to allow more exceptional portfolio-company talent to benefit from this unique opportunity.
